Excavation Laborer / Equipment Operator – $25–$35+/HR
TH Excavation is hiring a full-time Excavation Laborer / Equipment Operator to join our crew.
We are an excavation and civil construction company based in Port Orchard, WA. Our work includes underground utilities, drainage, excavation, grading, land clearing, site development, retaining walls, trucking, and residential/commercial civil construction.
THE POSITION
Our primary need for the remainder of this busy season is a solid ground person who is willing to work, learn, and help keep production moving.
This means installing pipe, checking grade, compacting, spotting equipment, using hand and power tools, helping with mobilization, maintaining jobsites, and yes—using a shovel when the work requires it.
However, we are not looking to hire someone just to keep them on the ground forever.
The right person will have frequent opportunities to operate excavators, skid steers, loaders, and other equipment as their abilities and judgment allow.
Our goal is to develop a capable candidate toward a more dedicated equipment operator position next busy season. Someone who demonstrates significant experience, leadership ability, and good decision-making may also have an opportunity to move toward a crew leadership role as the company grows.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
Construction or excavation experience is preferred, but it is not required for the right person.
We’re looking for someone who:
- Shows up reliably and on time
- Works hard without needing to be constantly pushed
- Is mechanically inclined
- Works safely around heavy equipment
- Is willing to learn
- Takes care of equipment and tools
- Can follow directions and communicate with the crew
- Wants to learn equipment operation
- Is interested in becoming more valuable and taking on greater responsibility
A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are strongly preferred. CDL or other construction certifications are a plus but are not required.
PAY
$25–$35+ per hour depending on experience and ability.
That is our primary hiring range, but it is not an absolute ceiling. We are open to discussing other compensation for a candidate whose experience, operating ability, qualifications, or leadership capabilities justify it.
Less-experienced applicants are also encouraged to apply. If you have a good work ethic, mechanical aptitude, and genuinely want to learn excavation and equipment operation, we are willing to train the right person.
LOCATION
TH Excavation is based in Port Orchard, WA and performs work throughout Kitsap County and the surrounding Western Washington region.
Several of our current larger projects are located in King County, so applicants must be comfortable working where our active projects are located. Jobsite locations will vary with our project schedule.
