Automotive & Motorcycle Technician

Location: South Sacramento, near South Watt and Fruitridge

About the Position

Motor-Speed is an independent dealership and repair shop specializing in motorcycles, dirt bikes, cars and trucks.

We are looking for a dependable and experienced technician who can diagnose, service and repair a variety of vehicles. Experience with both cars and motorcycles is preferred, but candidates with strong experience in either category are encouraged to apply.

This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in their work, pays close attention to detail and can work independently. Because we are a small and growing company, the right technician will have meaningful input into how the service department operates and improves.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service and repair cars, motorcycles and dirt bikes
• Perform inspections and prepare dealership inventory for sale
• Complete routine maintenance and more involved mechanical repairs
• Identify needed parts and assist with parts research and ordering
• Document work performed and communicate repair progress clearly
• Use diagnostic scanners, torque wrenches and specialty tools correctly
• Occasionally assist customers with vehicle drop-offs, test-drive information and basic shop questions
• Maintain a clean, safe and organized work area
• Occasionally work on ATVs, side-by-sides, jet skis or other powersports vehicles
• Suggest practical improvements to shop organization and workflow

Qualifications

• Professional or substantial hands-on mechanical experience
• Strong understanding of automotive, motorcycle or powersports repair
• Comfortable performing diagnostics and researching unfamiliar problems
• Able to work independently while following established procedures
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing work properly
• Comfortable using computers and mobile applications to document and track work
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Able to safely move and maneuver motorcycles around the shop
• M1 motorcycle endorsement is preferred but not required
• Dependable, organized and able to communicate clearly

Tools

Motor-Speed provides the tools and equipment required to perform the position. Applicants with their own personal hand tools are welcome to use them but are not required to supply the shop’s necessary tools.

Preferred Experience

• Experience working on both cars and motorcycles
• Electrical and diagnostic troubleshooting
• European vehicles or motorcycles
• Dirt bikes and powersports vehicles
• Welding, fabrication, bodywork or paint
• Parts sourcing and repair-estimate preparation
• Interest in helping document interesting repairs or shop projects for social media and YouTube
