Experienced Carpenter / Fabricator – Custom Fabrication Shop
Carpenter
Description
11th St Workshop is looking for experienced Carpenters / Fabricators to join our shop team in Jersey City.
We build custom environments, event installations, retail displays, pop-ups, experiential activations, and other one-off fabricated projects. This is not traditional residential construction — the work changes constantly and requires carpenters who are comfortable building custom pieces from drawings.
Responsibilities:
Build custom fabricated pieces from shop drawings
Work with plywood, MDF, dimensional lumber, laminates, and other materials
Build walls, platforms, displays, cabinets, counters, scenic elements, and custom structures
Operate standard woodworking and fabrication tools safely
Assemble projects in the shop
Assist with installations and strikes when needed
Work closely with project managers, drafters, and other shop departments
Maintain a clean and organized work area
Ideal Candidate:
Professional carpentry/fabrication experience
Able to accurately read shop drawings and measurements
Comfortable with table saws, chop saws, routers, nail guns, drills, and other standard shop tools
Cabinetry, millwork, exhibit, scenic, theater, or experiential fabrication experience is a major plus
Strong attention to detail
Able to problem-solve and work independently
Reliable and comfortable working in a fast-paced production environment
We’re looking for people who are builders and fabricators, not just general laborers. You should be comfortable receiving a drawing and figuring out how to turn it into a clean, finished product.
Location: Jersey City, NJ
Schedule: Full-Time
Please reply with your resume, a brief description of your experience, and photos/examples of previous work if available.
