Experienced Custom Picture Framer / Production Specialist

Walter Adams Framing is one of San Francisco's premier custom picture framing companies, serving artists, collectors, homeowners, galleries, and interior designers for nearly 50 years. We specialize in museum-quality custom framing, conservation materials, and exceptional craftsmanship.

We are seeking an experienced Custom Picture Framer / Production Specialist to join our team at our San Francisco production facility on Geary Boulevard.

This position is ideal for an experienced framing professional who enjoys hands-on craftsmanship, takes pride in producing exceptional work, and understands the importance of quality, accuracy, and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Fit and assemble custom framing projects to the highest quality standards
• Handle artwork, photographs, textiles, memorabilia, and specialty items with care and professionalism
• Perform conservation mounting and archival framing techniques
• Construct shadowboxes and specialty framing projects
• Stretch canvas and prepare artwork for framing
• Cut and fit glass, acrylic, mats, and backing materials
• Install hanging hardware and perform final quality-control inspections
• Operate framing equipment safely and efficiently
• Work closely with framing designers and fellow production staff to ensure projects are completed accurately and on schedule
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe production environment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of custom framing production experience
• Strong fitting and assembly skills
• Experience handling valuable artwork and finished framed pieces
• Familiarity with conservation framing materials and techniques
• Ability to read and accurately execute framing work orders
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality craftsmanship
• Ability to lift and move artwork and framed pieces weighing up to 40 pounds
• Ability to stand, bend, and work on your feet throughout the day
• Some computer competency

Experience With the Following Is Highly Desired

• Shadowbox construction
• Fabric-wrapped mats
• Canvas stretching
• Dry mounting
• Conservation hinging and mounting methods
• Frame joining and assembly
• Glass and acrylic cutting
• Mat cutting
• Fillet installation
• Acrylic box assembly
• Fletcher wall cutters, underpinners, mat cutters, and other framing equipment
