Experienced Fence Installer

Description

We are hiring an experienced fence installer and metal fabricator for residential, commercial, and apartment-community fencing projects throughout the Houston area.

This position is primarily focused on building, installing, repairing, and replacing fences and gates. The ideal candidate can take accurate measurements, lay out a fence line, determine materials, set posts correctly, fabricate gates, and complete professional-quality installations without constant supervision.

Primary Responsibilities

Install and repair wood privacy fences

Build horizontal cedar and board-on-board fences
Install chain-link fencing and gates
Install ornamental iron, steel, and metal fencing
Build and install pedestrian gates, driveway gates, and commercial vehicle gates
Remove and replace damaged or deteriorated fencing
Lay out fence lines, corners, gates, and post locations
Set wood and metal posts in concrete
Make sure fences are level, straight, properly spaced, and structurally secure
Cut, weld, grind, drill, and fabricate metal fence and gate components
Build and repair gate frames, hinges, latches, brackets, and supports
Diagnose and correct dragging, leaning, sagging, or misaligned gates
Install fence pickets, rails, panels, top caps, trim, and hardware
Repair apartment-community perimeter fences, pool fences, dumpster enclosures, and access gates
Measure jobs and prepare accurate material lists
Load, transport, organize, and protect fencing materials
Maintain clean and safe jobsites
Perform limited apartment construction and maintenance work when fencing projects are not scheduled

Required Experience

At least three years of hands-on fencing or related construction experience preferred
Experience installing wood, chain-link, and metal fencing
Experience building and hanging gates
Ability to read a tape measure and perform accurate layouts
Knowledge of proper post depth, spacing, concrete installation, and fence alignment
Ability to calculate materials for fence and gate projects
Ability to work independently and complete projects correctly
Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
Ability to lift posts, concrete, panels, lumber, and other fencing materials
Ability to work outdoors in Houston weather
Must be dependable, punctual, and professional around residents and customers

Strongly Preferred Skills

MIG or stick welding

Metal gate fabrication
Commercial fencing experience
Automatic gate operator and access-control experience
Horizontal cedar and custom privacy-fence experience
Ornamental iron and steel fence installation
Chain-link fence installation, stretching, and tensioning
Concrete demolition and post replacement
Skid-steer, auger, trailer, or equipment-operation experience
Apartment maintenance or construction experience
Bilingual English and Spanish
