Experienced Framer / Fitter- Archival Framing Studio (LIC)
Fitter
Description
Woodman Frames, an appointment-only custom framing studio in Long Island City, is hiring an experienced fitter. This is not an entry-level or trainee position- we need someone who can work at a professional standard from day one.
Requirements- please only apply if you meet all of these:
2+ years of professional framing or fitting experience in a frame shop or studio
Confident cutting mats, hinging and mounting artwork (including reversible/archival methods), and fitting
Light woodworking: building strainers, joining frames
Physically comfortable handling heavy and oversized materials daily- glass, glazing sheets, hardwood moldings, large finished frames (regularly 50+ lbs, with help for the biggest pieces)
Able to start immediately and work on-site in LIC
Details:
4 days per week
From $28/hour, with room to grow
Small studio doing conservation-level work for collectors, galleries, and designers.
We care about craft and about the environment we work in-the studio runs on trust, care, and attention to detail, and we'd love someone who shares that. But experience comes first for this role.
To apply: reply by email with the subject line "Fitter Application." Include a few lines about where you've framed professionally, for how long, and which parts of the fitting process you've handled yourself, plus a resume if you have one. Email only, please-no phone calls or walk-ins. Applications that don't address the questions above won't be considered.
