Position: Experienced Furniture Upholsterer – Custom & Restoration
Location: 2180 Emerson St., Jacksonville, FL, 32207
Schedule: Monday - Friday, Daytime Hours
Compensation: 41% Commission on Billed Labor (Minimum $20/Hour Guarantee)

Jax Furniture Refinishing & Upholstering is seeking an Experienced Furniture Upholsterer to independently manage custom upholstery, furniture restoration, and repair projects. This is a role perfect for experienced craftspeople who want the freedom to showcase their expertise, build a reputation, and earn based on their skill and efficiency.

You'll work on a diverse range of high-end furniture projects and be rewarded directly for your craftsmanship and productivity. No micromanagement, just accountability for quality and professionalism. Skilled, efficient upholsterers consistently earn $25–$40+ per hour effective rate through commission.

What You'll Do

Execute Expert Upholstery Work: Perform complex upholstery, restoration, and repair projects that have been estimated and scoped by our project coordinator
Inspect & Evaluate on Site: Upon arrival, assess furniture condition, confirm damage and restoration approach, and execute work to the highest standards
Perform All Upholstery Tasks:**
Custom upholstery and reupholstering projects
Furniture restoration and antique refinishing
Leather cleaning, conditioning, and repair
Fabric repair and patch work
Seam repair and reinforcement
Spring and frame repair and replacement
Padding and cushion work
Use Tools Skillfully: Operate hand tools, power tools, sewing equipment, and adhesives correctly and safely
Maintain Standards: Keep detailed records, ensure safety compliance, and maintain a clean, organized work environment
Build Customer Relationships: Communicate professionally, manage expectations, and ensure customer satisfaction on every project

What We're Looking For

Required Experience & Qualifications:

Minimum 2+ years of professional upholstery and/or furniture restoration experience
Proven expertise in custom upholstery, reupholstering, and furniture repair (wood, leather, fabric)
Advanced skill with hand tools, power tools, and upholstery equipment (sewing machines, pneumatic tools, etc.)
Ability to work independently and manage projects solo from assessment to completion
Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality craftsmanship
Knowledge of fabrics, leather, padding, springs, and upholstery materials
Ability to lift 50+ lbs consistently and perform physically demanding work
Clean background check and pass drug screening
Valid driver's license and clean driving record
Professional communication and customer service skills
Problem-solving mindset and ability to adapt to different project challenges

Highly Valued:

Knowledge of antique furniture styles and restoration techniques
