Florida Heating & Air Inc. is actively seeking experienced HVAC subcontractors for residential installation, replacement, service, and repair work throughout Northeast Florida.
THIS IS A 1099 INDEPENDENT SUBCONTRACTOR POSITION.
This is not a W-2 employee position. Qualified individuals will be compensated as independent subcontractors and are responsible for maintaining all required business licenses, insurance, and tax reporting obligations.
We have steady work available for qualified HVAC professionals who can work independently, troubleshoot difficult situations, and complete jobs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
THIS IS NOT AN ENTRY-LEVEL POSITION.
Proven HVAC experience is required. We are seeking skilled professionals with a documented track record of successful residential HVAC installations, diagnostics, repairs, and equipment replacements. If you are still learning the trade, this opportunity is not a good fit.
AVAILABLE WORK INCLUDES:
- Complete HVAC system replacements
- Split-system heat pump installations
- Mini-split installations and repairs
- Condenser replacements
- Air handler replacements
- Compressor change-outs
- Evaporator coil replacements
- Refrigerant leak repairs
- Ductwork repair and replacement
- Refrigerant line modifications
- Equipment startup and commissioning
- Mechanical code upgrades and corrections
- Service diagnostics and troubleshooting
- Paid per completed job
- Typical jobs range from $350 to $1,500
- Larger projects, complete system replacements, multi-zone mini-splits, and specialty projects may pay substantially more
- Some projects exceed several thousand dollars in compensation
- Steady workflow available for qualified subcontractors

- Extensive residential HVAC experience
- Proven installation and troubleshooting experience
- Ability to independently install complete HVAC systems
- Mini-split installation and troubleshooting experience
- Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic capabilities
- Ability to solve difficult installation challenges in the field
- Understanding of refrigeration circuits, airflow, electrical controls, and system performance
- Knowledge of Florida mechanical code requirements
- Ability to properly evacuate, charge, commission, and verify system performance
- Ability to identify and correct installation deficiencies
- Professional customer communication skills
- Tech-savvy and comfortable using smartphones, photos, electronic forms, and digital documentation
- Active business entity (LLC or Corporation preferred)
- General Liability Insurance
- Florida Workers’ Compensation Exemption Certificate or Active Workers’ Compensation Coverage
- Valid Driver’s License
- Reliable Transportation
- EPA Certification preferred
- Your own truck or work vehicle
- Your own tools and installation equipment
- Recovery machine
- Vacuum pump
- Gauges and diagnostic instruments
- Standard HVAC installation and service tools
