Experienced Mechanic Wanted for Part-Time Project Car Work – $35–$45/h
Experienced Part-Time Mechanic for Project Cars
Description
I’m looking for an experienced mechanic to help with several ongoing automotive projects at a private home garage in the Raleigh/Knightdale area.
This is flexible, part-time work rather than a full-time shop position. I am looking for someone who enjoys unusual vehicles, diagnoses problems methodically, works carefully, and is comfortable tackling projects over multiple visits.
Current and upcoming work includes:
- Timing-belt service on a Ford Fiesta ST
- Installing A/C system components in a Suzuki Sidekick
- Diagnosing an overheating problem on a small Japanese performance car
- Routine maintenance and repair work on a Porsche Cayenne
- Repair and maintenance work on an Audi S8
- An eventual head-gasket job on a Japanese van
- Additional maintenance, fabrication, and project-car work as needed
The right person should have:
- Demonstrable professional or substantial hands-on mechanical experience
- Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
- Experience with timing-belt or timing-chain work
- Careful, organized work habits
- Respect for vehicles, tools, parts, and the work area
- Reliable transportation and dependable communication
- References from a shop, employer, or previous private customers
Pay is $35–$45 per hour, depending on experience and ability. More specialized jobs may be priced separately by mutual agreement. We would begin with a paid trial project before moving into larger or more complicated work.
Please reply with:
Your relevant experience
Whether you currently work or previously worked in a repair shop
The types of repairs you are comfortable performing independently
Any diagnostic equipment or specialty tools you own
Your normal availability
Two references or examples of previous work
Your requested hourly rate
Please do not send a one-line response. I’m looking for someone interested in an ongoing working relationship, not simply the quickest possible repair.
