EXPERIENCED RESIDENTIAL HANDYMAN — FLEXIBLE PART-TIME W-2 WORK

Handyman Network is looking for an experienced residential handyman who wants good-paying work without committing to a 40-hour schedule.

This may be a good fit if you are semi-retired, cutting back from full-time construction, or filling openings between your own projects. You tell us when you are available, and we schedule suitable customer jobs within that availability. Some weeks may have several days of work and others may have less. Hours are not guaranteed. This is direct W-2 employment, not a lead-selling or pay-for-referral service.

We are a licensed Sacramento-area general contractor. Our office finds the customers, schedules the work, handles billing and follows up with the customer. You concentrate on doing the job properly. On larger renovation projects, you may work with other team members and learn our established approach to bathroom and kitchen renovations.

Most of our work is in occupied homes and includes:

• Residential repairs and troubleshooting
• Doors, trim and finish carpentry
• Drywall repair and patching
• Fixture, switch and outlet replacement
• Faucets, toilets and minor plumbing repairs
• Grab bars and accessibility work
• Flooring, cabinets and punch-list work
• Small remodeling projects

Compensation is W-2 and production based, with hourly pay for all required working time. Completed production work generally pays the equivalent of at least $45 per productive hour. Specialty work and efficiently completed projects can pay significantly more. Handyman Network uses a base-plus-production compensation system. Every required working hour is paid at a guaranteed hourly base rate. At the end of each pay period, production earnings are calculated and additional pay is added. This allows experienced technicians to earn more through efficient, high-quality work and accurate estimating while retaining guaranteed hourly compensation.

Once you accept a customer appointment, we expect you to arrive on time, communicate with the customer and complete the work professionally. This position requires someone who can work independently in occupied homes, recognize the limits of their experience and leave a clean, finished job.

The work is physically active. Depending on the assignment, essential functions may include, with or without reasonable accommodation:

• Carrying tools, equipment and construction materials to and from jobsites
• Lifting and carrying items weighing up to approximately 50 pounds
• Standing, bending, kneeling, crouching and reaching overhead
• Climbing and working from ladders and step stools
• Using hand and power tools for extended periods
• Working outdoors and in garages, attics or other areas that may be hot, cold, dusty or confined
• Safely performing demolition, material handling and other physically demanding repair work

Heavier or awkward items may require team lifting or mechanical assistance. Employees are expected to identify tasks they cannot perform safely before beginning the work.

Applicants should have:

• Several years of paid residential repair or remodeling experience
• Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license
• Basic hand and power tools
• Good customer communication
• A dependable phone and the ability to receive job information electronically
• References and photographs of previous work
• Legal authorization to work in the United States (We use W-2 employees, not subcontractors or cash payments)
• Willingness to complete a job-related background check and driving-record review after receiving a conditional offer of employment
