Experienced Welder / Fabricator / Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Full-Time Position

Commonwealth Waste Transportation is seeking an experienced Welder/Fabricator with strong mechanical aptitude to join our growing team. This is a hands-on position working on our fleet of walking floor trailers and off-road heavy equipment, performing repairs, preventive maintenance, and custom upgrades.

Responsibilities:

• Weld and fabricate using both steel and aluminum
• Perform structural repairs and modifications to walking floor trailers
• Diagnose and repair mechanical issues on trailers and off-road heavy equipment
• Complete preventative maintenance and equipment upgrades
• Perform field service repairs using a fully equipped company service truck
• Maintain a safe and organized work environment

Qualifications:

• Proven experience welding steel and aluminum
• Strong fabrication skills with the ability to read measurements and work from plans or concepts
• Mechanical experience with heavy equipment, trailers, hydraulic systems or commercial vehicles
• Ability to troubleshoot and repair hydraulic, mechanical, and structural components
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record (CDL-A or B a plus).
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
