Location: Kailua-Kona, HI (On-site)
Schedule: Thursdays & Fridays (Starting Schedule)
Pay: $18.00 – $24.00 / hour (DOE) + W2
About the Role
We are a Kona-based metal design and fabrication shop specializing in high-end custom aluminum and stainless steel products. We are looking for a motivated Apprentice—ideally a recent graduate or upcoming graduate from a trade program—who wants hands-on shop experience in precision fabrication and custom metalwork.
You will work directly in the shop building high-quality custom metal products.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with raw material preparation, cutting, grinding, and metal prep (Aluminum & Stainless Steel).
- Perform fit-up, tacking, and entry-to-mid-level TIG and MIG welding.
- Measure, mark, and layout materials accurately according to shop prints and sketches.
- Maintain shop cleanliness, tool organization, and safe working conditions.
- Education: Recent graduate or currently enrolled in a Welding, Fabrication, or Industrial Technology program (or equivalent hands-on experience).
- Metalworking Skills: Basic familiarity with MIG/TIG welding processes, angle grinders, band saws, and measuring tools.
- Material Experience: Comfort or interest in working with aluminum and stainless steel.
- Work Ethic: Strong attention to detail, reliable attendance, and an eager-to-learn mindset.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 50+ lbs, stand for long shifts, and work safely in a shop environment.
- Driver’s License: Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Kailua-Kona.
- Consistent part-time W2 employment with set weekly schedule (Thursdays & Fridays).
- Hands-on practical experience on real-world custom projects.
