Fabricator / TIG Welder - Custom Van Builds
Fabricator / TIG Welder - Custom Van Builds
Description
Fabricator / TIG Welder - Custom Van Builds
Pay: $30-$38/hour DOE
Benefits: 401(k) with Company Match
We are looking for an experienced fabricator who excels at TIG welding aluminum to join our custom van build team.
This is not a position for someone who simply follows blueprints and welds pre-cut parts together. We need a self-sufficient fabricator who can take a rough concept, sketch, photo, or verbal idea and turn it into a finished product.
Our team designs and manufactures custom side steps, safari roof racks, storage systems, mounting solutions, and other custom van components in-house. The right candidate will be comfortable solving problems, creating fabrication plans, and building high-quality products with minimal direction.
Compensation & Benefits
$30-$38 per hour, depending on experience and skill level
401(k) with company matching
Full-time, long-term position
Opportunity to help develop and expand a growing custom fabrication department
Responsibilities
TIG weld aluminum to a high cosmetic and structural standard
Fabricate custom side steps, safari roof racks, brackets, storage systems, and other van accessories
Measure, cut, fit, bend, assemble, and finish parts independently
Develop fabrication solutions from concepts rather than detailed engineering drawings
Maintain quality, consistency, and fitment standards across all products
Collaborate with the team to refine designs and improve manufacturability
Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and develop practical solutions
Required Qualifications
Strong TIG welding experience, especially with aluminum
Proven experience as a fabricator, not just a welder
Ability to build from concepts, sketches, photos, and verbal direction
Experience working with tubing, sheet metal, plate, and structural aluminum
Strong layout, measuring, fitting, and problem-solving skills
Proficiency with fabrication equipment including saws, grinders, benders, notchers, drill presses, and related shop tools
Ability to work independently and take ownership of projects from start to finish
Preferred Qualifications
Experience building roof racks, side steps, bumpers, armor, or other vehicle accessories
Experience in the van conversion, overland, off-road, motorsports, marine, or custom fabrication industries
CAD or design experience
Knowledge of manufacturing and production-oriented fabrication practices
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a fabricator first and a welder second.
The ideal candidate can look at a vehicle, discuss a concept with the team, identify potential challenges, and then build a professional, repeatable product without needing detailed schematics or step-by-step instructions.
If you've spent your career welding parts from drawings, this may not be the right fit. If you've spent your career designing, fabricating, and building custom projects from ideas, we'd love to talk with you.
To be considered, please submit photos of your aluminum TIG welds and examples of fabrication projects you have built from concepts, sketches, or customer ideas rather than detailed engineering drawings.
