Job Description:

Facilities Development and Management (FDM) seeks a Manager, Locksmith Services to provide leadership and oversight for the university's physical access and key control program. This position is responsible for managing locksmith operations, supervising technical staff, administering institutional key and access standards, and ensuring the security and integrity of university facilities across all ASU locations.

The Manager serves as the university's subject matter expert for mechanical locking systems, key control, and Facilities Management physical access security while providing strategic direction for program development, regulatory compliance, stakeholder engagement, and operational excellence. The position collaborates closely with campus partners, project managers, contractors, and public safety personnel to support the university's evolving security needs.

This position will be based on the Tempe campus but will require working at other ASU campus locations based on program need.

Essential Duties:

  • Administer and enforce university-wide key control policies, security procedures, and Facilities Management physical access standards.
  • Manage the design, maintenance, and integrity of institutional master key systems and restricted keyways.
  • Oversee locksmith operations, including the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of locking hardware and related security systems.
  • Support and coordinate mechanical and electronic access control systems, including Lenel, GFMS, and related technologies.
  • Conduct access audits, security assessments, and compliance reviews to ensure adherence to applicable codes, regulations, and university standards.
  • Collaborate with facility managers, project managers, contractors, and stakeholders to support construction, renovation, and security initiatives.
  • Develop scopes of work, estimates, and technical specifications for locksmith and physical access projects.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable ADA, NFPA, ANSI/BHMA, UL, and related building and life-safety standards.
  • Provide technical expertise and operational leadership in support of university security and access management objectives.
Days and Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am- 5:00pm

Salary Range: $88,000 - $92,000 per year, commensurate experience and education. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.

Desired Qualifications:

  • NLI Level III Certification or equivalent professional locksmith certification.
  • Experience developing, implementing, and maintaining policies, procedures, and operational standards related to physical access and security.
  • Ability to analyze operational challenges, develop and implement solutions, and drive continuous process improvements.
  • Working knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS), facilities management software, and related operational technologies.
  • Knowledge of electronic access control systems, including Lenel or comparable platforms.
  • Experience interpreting construction documents, door schedules, and hardware specifications, including segment management of access control systems.
  • Experience conducting physical security assessments, compliance reviews, and implementing security best practices.
  • Knowledge of applicable building codes, life safety requirements, security standards, and compliance requirements related to doors and hardware.
  • Experience managing institutional key control & physical access programs, including large-scale rekey initiatives
  • Comprehensive knowledge of commercial locking hardware, key systems, and physical access security principles.
  • Experience administering master key systems and restricted keyway programs.
  • Demonstrated experience supervising, leading, and managing technical personnel, cross-functional initiatives, and competing operational priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across stakeholder groups.
