Chain Link Fence & Supply, Inc. has been family owned and operated since 1996. We are a full-service fencing contractor specializing in chain link and ornamental fencing and gate installations or repairs for commercial / industrial and public works applications. We are a member of the American Fence Association, Associated Builders and Contractors, IBEW 1245, Gold Shovel, and ISN. We employ ~34 people.

The Fence Erector is responsible for the safe and efficient installation of commercial fencing, gates, and related site improvements. This position works as part of a field installation crew and performs physical labor associated with laying out, digging, setting, assembling, and installing various types of fencing.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-conscious, willing to work outdoors in varying conditions, and able to work effectively as part of a team. Previous fencing, construction, or general labor experience is preferred but not required for an entry-level position.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist with the layout and installation of commercial fencing systems.
  • Measure and mark fence lines, post locations, gates, and other installation points.
  • Dig post holes using hand tools, power equipment, or mechanical equipment.
  • Set and align fence posts to proper depth, spacing, height, and grade.
  • Mix and place concrete around fence posts when required.
  • Install chain link, fabric, framework, fittings, hardware, and accessories.
  • Install gates, gate hardware, operators, and related components as directed.
  • Cut, drill, grind, assemble, and fit fencing materials using appropriate hand and power tools.
  • Stretch and tension chain link fabric properly.
  • Load, unload, move, and organize fencing materials and equipment at jobsites.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, compact equipment, and other jobsite equipment safely.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Protect existing structures, landscaping, utilities, and other property during installation.
  • Follow project plans, specifications, jobsite instructions, and directions from the Foreman.
  • Identify potential problems with materials, measurements, layout, or installation and communicate them to the Foreman.
  • Perform work in accordance with company quality standards.
  • Follow all company safety policies and OSHA requirements.
  • Properly use required personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Assist with demolition, removal, repair, and replacement of existing fencing when required.
  • Perform other construction-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Required:
  • Reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work effectively as part of a crew.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding construction work.
  • Ability to safely use basic hand tools.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and quality workmanship.
Preferred:
  • Previous fencing, construction, or general labor experience.
  • Experience installing chain link or other commercial fencing.
  • Experience operating power tools or construction equipment.
  • Ability to read basic measurements and understand a tape measure.
  • Previous experience working from plans, drawings, or project specifications.
  • Welding or fabrication experience.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to legally operate company vehicles, when required as an essential function of the position.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
  • Non-exempt, Full-Time (~40 hours/week, M-F), permanent position in Livermore, California. Travel may be required.
  • Competitive wages - paid weekly, you’ll earn $24-35/hour D.O.E.

Employees working on prevailing-wage projects are paid in accordance with the applicable California prevailing-wage determination, project requirements, and all applicable federal, state, and local wage and hour laws.
