FIELD FOREMAN-STRUCTURAL STEEL – Full Time
STARTING PAY $30-$35/hour based on experience level
LOCATION: Greater Austin Area & Central Texas
JOB DESCRIPTION:
5 Star Fabrications is seeking an experienced Field Foreman. This role provides critical on-site leadership, overseeing both the field fabrication and the erection of structural steel components. You will manage field crews, coordinate with the fabrication shop, and ensure all projects are completed safely, on schedule, and according to engineering specifications.
IMPORTANT: The right candidate leads by example to foster a zero-injury culture, strictly enforcing OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and proper rigging, hoisting, and welding safety protocols across all field operations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Site Supervision: Direct daily field operations, managing field fabricators, ironworkers, and welders.
- Fabrication & Erection: Oversee the accurate fit-up, welding, and erection of structural steel frames, beams, columns, and miscellaneous metals.
- Blueprint Reading: Interpret structural drawings, architectural blueprints, and welding symbols to execute precise installations.
- Coordination: Serve as the primary link between the field crew, project managers, and the fabrication shop to ensure material delivery and design accuracy.
- Quality Control: Inspect welds, bolting, and alignment to ensure compliance with AWS standards and project specifications.
- Resource Management: Track equipment, tools, and materials on-site to minimize waste and prevent project delays
SAFETY LEADERSHIP
• Lead by example to foster a zero-injury culture, strictly enforcing OSHA regulations, site-specific safety plans, and proper rigging, hoisting, and welding safety protocols across all field operations.
QUALIFICATIONS & REQUIREMENTS:
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel erection and field fabrication, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in structural welding, rigging, and reading complex blueprints.
- Certifications: OSHA 30 certification required; AWS certified welding or CWI credentials are a strong plus.
- Leadership: Proven ability to manage crews, resolve on-site conflicts, and maintain high team morale.
- Physical Ability: Must be able to work at heights, lift heavy materials, and work in varying weather conditions.
- Valid Texas driver's license preferred
- OSHA 30 certification required; AWS certified welding or CWI credentials are a strong plus.

- Experience fitting, tacking, welding, grinding, finishing, and preparing custom metalwork for installation
