Field Repair/Installation Technician — Trash Chute Doors
Field Repair/Installation Technician
Description
Field Repair/Installation Technician — Trash Chute Doors & Discharge Gates
ChuteMaster | Union, NJ | Full-Time | Travel Required
About the Role
ChuteMaster Environmental is looking for a hands-on, mechanically inclined person to join our field team installing trash chute doors and discharge gates in residential and commercial buildings. You don't need chute experience — we'll train the right candidate. What you do need is a solid handyman skill set, a construction or project-management background, and the reliability to show up at a job site and get it done right.
This is a customer-facing role. You'll be the face of ChuteMaster on-site, working directly with property managers, building supers, and residents — so being professional, courteous, and clear in how you communicate matters as much as the quality of your install.
What You'll Do
- Repair and replace trash chute intake doors and discharge gates
- Survey properties and make recommendations for repairs and replacements to their existing setups including taking measurements for replacement quotes.
- Create work orders, manage scheduling the completion of work, and coordinating with building staff and property managers
- Keep job sites clean & safe.
- Document completed work (photos, checklists, sign-offs)
- Travel to job sites, including some overnight travel
- Handy and comfortable with power tools, drills, & fasteners.
- Experience in construction, trades, facilities, or project management
- Able to read proposals, drawings/specs and follow installation procedures
- Reliable, organized, and able to work independently on-site
- Valid driver's license and clean driving record
- Able to lift [50+] lbs and work on ladders and in tight spaces
- Willing to travel [approx. 10-25% / 5 days per month]
- Familiarity with multifamily or commercial building environments
- OSHA 10/30 certification
- Paid, hands-on training
- Pay range: $60,000-65,000 Base salary + commissions. You can expect to earn around $75,000+ in your first year.
- Benefits: health insurance, PTO, 401(k), life insurance.
- Company vehicle / travel expenses covered
- A stable, family-owned company with decades in the industry and lots of growth potential.
