Job Description:

Facilities Management seeks a Filter Servicer. This entry-level position will inspect, maintain or replace air filters on heating, ventilation, air conditioning (HVAC) equipment.

Essential Duties:

  • Inspect air filters on HVAC equipment to determine if maintenance is required.
  • Clean, oil, or replace air filters.
  • Recommend upgrade of air filters for efficiency.
  • Schedule maintenance on air filters.
  • Read gauges and instruments and adjust mechanisms.
  • Maintain records of maintenance on air filters.
  • Use ability to clearly communicate to perform essential functions.
  • Use electronic work order systems (TMA)
DAYS AND SCHEDULE: Tuesday - Friday 5:30AM-4:00PM. This position is based on the ASU Tempe campus but may require working at other campus locations based on program need.

Hourly Wage: $20.00 per hour. ASU offers a comprehensive benefits package with the State of Arizona.

Desired Qualifications:

Experience in:

  • Maintenance of air filters
  • Accurately maintaining and updating maintenance records
  • Rotating machine (air movers, motors, exhaust fans and compressed air systems)
  • Performing preventative maintenance routines
  • Customer service
Demonstrated knowledge of:
  • Types and use of air filters
  • Asbestos and abatement procedures
  • Computer skills, including computer based work order systems (TMA) using Ipad or tablet, email and MS office
  • Evidence of effective communication skills
Working Environment:
  • Utilize hand and/or power tools (e.g. drills, generators, saws, lifts, vacuum equipment).
  • Climb stairs, ladders, ladder wells, and stairs.
  • Work off ladders to include working off lift platforms and boom trucks at heights above six feet.
  • Activities performed in a variety of interior and exterior settings involving restricted movement, low lighting, dirty environmental conditions, air contamination, extreme temperatures, and intense noise.
  • May be exposed to hazardous and dangerous materials, tools, and equipment which will require safety precautions and/or specific process to be followed, and may include the use of Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) (e.g. safety glasses, hearing protection, negative pressure and positive pressure respirator).
  • Use of PPE may require medical clearance prior to use.
  • Regular use of air compressor, shop or central vacuum, or water source.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, lifting over 50 pounds and pulling up to 100 pounds.
  • Drive University vehicles and/or carts.
