Job Summary

The Final Assembly Assistant plays a critical role in the final production stage of custom wood and composite cabinet consoles. This position is responsible for fitting components, installing hardware, conducting preliminary quality checks, and preparing finished console units for packaging and delivery.

Key Responsibilities

Hardware Installation: Install hinges, drawer slides, handles, knobs, latches, and soft-close mechanisms onto cabinet consoles using handheld and power tools.

Screen/ Fabric Installation: Cut and build screen to requires specs, using given screen material.

Leather Wrap: Prep and wrap leather onto wood pieces to quality requirements.

Component Fitting: Assemble sub-assemblies, attach cabinet doors, align drawer fronts, and fit interior shelving to precise engineering tolerances.

Surface & Hardware Quality Checks: Inspect finished surfaces for blemishes, scratches, or alignment issues prior to final sign-off.

Functional Testing: Test all moving parts (drawers, doors, fold-out panels, cable management pass-throughs) to ensure smooth operation.

Clean-Up & Touch-ups: Perform minor touch-ups (putty, edge-banding adjustments, cleaning wood dust/residue) before transferring consoles to the shipping department.

Workplace Safety & Maintenance: Maintain a clean, organized work area (5S standards) and perform daily maintenance on hand and power tools.

Qualifications & Requirements

Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.

Experience: 1+ years in woodworking, furniture manufacturing, carpentry, or product assembly preferred.

Technical Skills: Proficiency with pneumatic tools, slider saws, router tables, table saw,power drills, screwdrivers, tape measures, and calipers.

Blueprint Reading: Basic ability to read shop drawings, assembly blueprints, and cut sheets.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs unassisted, stand for extended periods, and perform repetitive hand/wrist motions.

Attention to Detail: Strong eye for alignment, squareness, and surface finish quality.

Preferred Experience

Prior experience with high-end architectural millwork or custom media/audio console manufacturing.

Knowledge of soft-close hardware brands (e.g., Blum, Sugatsune, Grass).

Basic understanding of wood behavior, veneering, leather, vinyl and composite materials.
