About this Job: General Summary of Position
Under general supervision performs stionary engineer work in the hospital power plant involving a variety of routine and fairly complex problems. To ensure all equipment and systems are properly opering for a maximum safety and comfortable environment.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Technical/Mechanical: Operes maintains and performs preventive maintenance on technical equipment. Operes boilers wer chillers pumps air compressors and generors to provide steam electrical power he and chilled wer throughout hospital. a. Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on wer /steam distribution systems other boiler associed systems. b. Interprets technical informion reled to equipment operion and maintenance. c. Maintains constant wch over dials meters and gauges to assure proper operion and to detect malfunctioning equipment. d. Records da in approprie logs and operes boiler room EMS systems. e. Runs test on boiler and cooling tower wer and adjusts trement dosage as needed. f. Maintains proper operion of pneumic tube system. g. Makes quality improvement or cost containment recommendions and sees through approval and implemention stages.
  • Customer Service: Consistently displays professionalism in dealings with customers staff and physicians. Promptly answers customer and staff requests a. Approaches greets and offers assistance and direction to pients family members physicians and others who may need help in finding their way. b. Takes initiive to solve problems and recommends improvements of hospital procedures and intra or interdepartmental processes.
  • Development: Participes with supervisors in identifying learning needs. When learning needs are identified participes in training and development activities. a. Attends hospital sponsored training programs as required by the department. b. Completes all mandory requirements within allotted timeframe for completion.
  • Organizional knowledge: Works effectively within and between departments. Participes in departmental projects. a. Participes in interdepartmental activities when asked. b. Demonstres a constructive approach during all interactions with staff supervisors and managers both inside and outside the unit.
  • Minimal Qualificions
    Educion
    • High School Diploma or GED required and
    • Equivalent work experience in lieu of educion may be considered.
    Experience
    • 1-2 years 2-3 years of experience as first class engineer required
    • Previous experience in a hospital setting preferred
    Licenses and Certificions
    • Maryland First Class Stionary Engineer License required
    Knowledge Skills and Abilities
    • Ability to communice with all levels of internal and external customers
    • Knowledge of building equipment and systems techniques and codes.
    • Knowledge of regulory requirements including all Ste Federal and JCAHO regulion
