Responsibilities
- Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
- Support and guide other mechanics by sharing expertise, best practices, and informal mentorship
- Maintain accurate and organized records of repairs, inspections, parts usage, and service history using maintenance software
- Identify recurring issues within the fleet and recommend practical solutions to reduce downtime and improve reliability
- Assist with scheduling maintenance and repairs to maximize fleet availability
- Adhere to all safety regulations, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and company policies
- Monitor parts inventory and communicate needs to management to ensure timely repairs
- Provide clear updates on fleet status and raise any concerns to management as needed
Qualifications
- Experience in a lead or go-to role within a mechanic or maintenance team
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting mechanical issues
- Proficiency with basic computer skills and maintenance software for documentation
- Familiarity with digital work orders, service logs, or inspection reports
- Comprehensive mechanical knowledge, including engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and general vehicle maintenance
- Valid driver's license (CDL preferred, depending on fleet type)
- Effective communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
