Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, repair, and perform preventive maintenance on fleet vehicles and equipment to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Support and guide other mechanics by sharing expertise, best practices, and informal mentorship
  • Maintain accurate and organized records of repairs, inspections, parts usage, and service history using maintenance software
  • Identify recurring issues within the fleet and recommend practical solutions to reduce downtime and improve reliability
  • Assist with scheduling maintenance and repairs to maximize fleet availability
  • Adhere to all safety regulations, Department of Transportation (DOT) requirements, and company policies
  • Monitor parts inventory and communicate needs to management to ensure timely repairs
  • Provide clear updates on fleet status and raise any concerns to management as needed

Qualifications

  • Experience in a lead or go-to role within a mechanic or maintenance team
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills for troubleshooting mechanical issues
  • Proficiency with basic computer skills and maintenance software for documentation
  • Familiarity with digital work orders, service logs, or inspection reports
  • Comprehensive mechanical knowledge, including engines, electrical systems, hydraulics, and general vehicle maintenance
  • Valid driver's license (CDL preferred, depending on fleet type)
  • Effective communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
