The position of Fleet Technician is critical to keep the fleet at a high service rate, control maintenance and service costs, improve fleet longevity, and preserve a safe and professional fleet by working with our Lead Fleet Technician.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct, manage, and communicate all fleet vehicle inspections to find vehicle issues while holding operating divisions accountable for vehicle image standards and safety.
- Complete basic in-house vehicle maintenance including oil changes, filter changes, rotors, brakes, and tire repair.
- Repair body and mechanical damage and coordinate major body damage repair with outside vendors.
- Ensure that all vehicles receive necessary preventive maintenance scheduled within the fleet maintenance software according to mileage, date, or hours of service.
- Assist in documenting all service performed, invoices, and vehicle inspections into the fleet maintenance system.
- Input driver changes into various systems.
- Install vehicle monitoring GPS units and work through troubleshooting within the system.
- Manage the garage while the Lead Fleet Technician is visiting other company locations.
- Promptly notify leadership when a vehicle needs more than regular PM service so that accommodation can be made.
- Organize, distribute, and install vehicle registrations and plates.
- Collaboratively work with fleet vehicle operators to help maintain vehicle image standards by helping to clean the exterior of vehicles and report on the interior condition.
- Keep garage and all inventory storage areas clean and organized.
- Sustain garage equipment to ensure no downtime due to equipment breakdowns.
- Proactively arrange for transportation of broken vehicles that need to be moved to a service station or back to RTMC for repairs.
- Ensure the garage and surrounding areas are safe and that all team members operate their duties in a safe manner.
- Perform additional tasks as directed by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Clear, effective communications skills – both written and verbal
- Intermediate mathematical abilities
- Aptitude for prioritizing and coordinating a variety of tasks
- Independent and proactive problem-solving and critical thinking
- Disposition for accuracy, attention to detail, and organization
- Ability to accurately and efficiently enter data
- Proficient in using basic office equipment
- Mastery of entire Microsoft Suite plus Internet and email
- Ability to investigate, gather information, and be self-sufficient
- A high school diploma or GED is required
SCHEDULE: Monday to Friday
LOCATION: On-site: Indianapolis 3 days, Franklin 1 day, Tipton 1 day
SALARY: $20-$23 HR
