Floor To Door is a flooring installation company serving the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. We install carpet, vinyl plank, carpet tile, laminate, sheet vinyl, and VCT for residential and commercial clients. We're looking for a skilled, reliable installer to join our team.
Job summary

We are seeking an experienced Flooring Installer to prepare job sites and install a variety of flooring materials with precision and craftsmanship. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, physically capable, and takes pride in delivering clean, professional results on every job.
Responsibilities

Install carpet, vinyl plank (LVP/LVT), carpet tile, laminate, sheet vinyl, and VCT according to manufacturer specifications and industry best practices

Measure job sites and calculate material needs accurately

Prepare subfloors, including removal of old flooring, patching, leveling, and moisture testing as needed

Cut, fit, and seam materials for a clean, professional finish

Read and follow blueprints, work orders, and installation instructions
Load, transport, and organize tools and materials for each job

Communicate professionally with customers, project managers, and team members on-site

Inspect completed work for quality and address any issues before job sign-off

Properly maintain and care for company tools and equipment

Qualifications

Prior flooring installation experience

preferred; on-site training provided for the right candidate

Working knowledge of subfloor prep, seaming, and transitions (or willingness to learn)

Ability to read tape measures accurately and do basic math for material estimates

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required/preferred)

Ability to lift 50+ lbs, kneel, bend, and stand for extended periods

Own basic hand tools (company provides specialty tools/equipment)

Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship

Good communication skills and a professional, customer-friendly attitude

Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a crew

Preferred (Not Required)

Experience with commercial installations

CFI (Certified Flooring Installer) certification

Experience with self-leveling compounds and moisture mitigation systems
