About Us

Schumacher Construction is a small, growing residential remodeling company based in Seattle, focused on residential and light commercial remodels in Seattle and surrounding areas. We self-perform framing, finish carpentry, trim, stairs, closets, and deck work, and manage trusted subs for plumbing, electrical, HVAC, painting, and roofing. We're a tight, hands-on crew — no red tape, no corner-cutting, and a real say in how projects get built.

The Role

We're looking for a working foreman — a bags-on lead carpenter who runs the crew from the tools, not from a truck. You'll be on site every day, framing and lining out other crew members and sub trades, while also holding the bigger picture of schedule, quality, and client expectations. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who wants real ownership over how a job gets built, not just a title.
As foreman, you'll show an aptitude for leadership, build positive relationships on site, and go above and beyond to make sure design intent and project goals are actually met — not just checked off.

What You'll Do

• Put work in place — this is a bags-on role, executing framing carpentry while lining out other crew members and sub trades
• Own layout for framing and site work
• Participate in quality control across all scopes — self-performed and subcontracted
• Assist in creating site documentation and as-built drawings
• Serve as first point of contact for subcontractor questions and collaborate with subs to find solutions
• Estimate materials and time for proposed work
• Run multiple projects as a working lead; coordinate crew to maximize productivity
• Build the daily schedule and own its execution
• Represent the company on site and in front of clients, architects, partners, and inspectors — with diplomacy, clarity, and patience
• Open and close the job site
• Maintain effective, respectful communication with crew, subs, clients, and partners at all times
• Minimize material waste and unnecessary cost
• Manage material deliveries, handling, storage, and placement
• Be a positive advocate for safety in action and attitude; know OSHA requirements for the site and reinforce awareness to reduce injury risk
• Maintain a safe, secure jobsite for people, tools, and materials
• Keep accurate daily job log documentation
• Train and direct field crew, including performance evaluations

What You Need to Succeed

• 6+ years of high-end residential carpentry experience; highly skilled and competent in framing
• Ability to read and interpret architectural drawings and specs; understand vertical and horizontal control lines
• Advanced construction math
• Ability to think ahead and see the big picture — understand the why behind the work and how today's work affects what's next
• Proficiency with proper use of tools and equipment, including specialty tools
• Excellent communication and team-building skills; able to both take and give direction
• Technical constructability knowledge across traditional and newer materials
• Reliable transportation and a clean driving record
• A personal tool kit that takes you from framing through finish carpentry
• Conversational Spanish is highly preferred
