Job Description

The Foreman/Lead Carpenter oversees and performs skilled carpentry work while guiding and coordinating a crew to ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, and to quality standards. This role is responsible for interpreting plans, assigning tasks, and providing hands-on leadership in framing, finishing, and installation activities. The Foreman/Lead Carpenter works closely with project management and other trades to resolve issues, maintain productivity, and uphold workmanship and safety expectations on the job site.

Primary Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise, and coordinate carpentry crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work
• Interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications to plan and execute carpentry tasks
• Perform and oversee demolition, jobsite preparation, framing, finish carpentry, and installation work as required
• Assign daily tasks to carpentry staff, monitor progress, and adjust schedules to meet project timelines
• Ensure compliance with safety regulations, company policies, and jobsite procedures
• Inspect work for quality, accuracy, and adherence to project standards
• Coordinate with project managers, subcontractors, and other trades to resolve field issues
• Maintain tools, equipment, and materials, and ensure proper use by crew members
• Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to carpentry team members
• Assist with material takeoffs, reporting, and basic job site documentation
• Perform other related duties and projects as needed by your supervisor

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Knowledge of construction processes, materials, tools, and standard job site practices
• Ability to install, maintain, and troubleshoot construction-related equipment and systems
• Skill in reading and understanding work orders, blueprints, and technical documentation
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities in fast-paced field environments
• Effective communication skills for coordinating with crews, supervisors, and clients
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing job site conditions
• Familiarity with safety regulations and commitment to following OSHA and company safety standards
• Basic proficiency with computers, tablets, and mobile applications for reporting and documentation
• Well organized and detail oriented

Physical Requirements
The Foreman/Lead Carpenter role requires the physical ability to work in active construction environments while leading crews in daily operations. Candidates must be able to stand and walk for extended periods, climb ladders and scaffolding, and navigate uneven or elevated work surfaces. The position involves frequent bending, kneeling, reaching, and occasional lifting of materials or equipment weighing up to 50 pounds. The Lead Foreman must be able to work in varying weather conditions, maintain visual and situational awareness across the jobsite, and consistently use required personal protective equipment to ensure safety and productivity.
