Founding Mechanic
Description

Type: Part-time to start, growing into a full-time role
Compensation: Hourly or per-job to start, plus an ownership stake in the company
About Moto Venice
Moto Venice is a high-end motorcycle rental company based in Venice, CA. We run a curated fleet (BMW, Harley-Davidson, Aprilia, MV Agusta, Indian, Triumph and more) and rent to riders who want a real bike for a real ride, not a scooter with a logo on it.
Where we're headed: Moto Venice becomes the destination for motorcycle enthusiasts on the west side of LA. One place with a cafe, a rental counter, and a service bay. Somewhere you stop in for coffee on a Saturday morning, meet other riders, get your bike looked at, and leave on something you've been wanting to try. That's the end goal we're building toward.
The Role
The next step toward that is a mobile mechanic service, and that's what I want to build with you.
We're not looking for a wrench-for-hire. We're looking for a partner. You'd start part-time, servicing our own fleet and taking on outside customers across the west side. From there you'd shape how the service runs: pricing, scheduling, what we carry in the van, which jobs we take and which we don't. As the book of business grows, the role grows with it, and you hold equity in the company as it does.
What you'd be doing
- Maintaining and repairing the Moto Venice rental fleet, keeping bikes rental-ready
- Building and running the mobile service offering for customers across West LA
- Setting up the operation: tools, van, parts sourcing, vendor relationships, service intervals
- Helping define pricing, scope, and how we handle customers
- Diagnosing well and communicating clearly, in person and over the phone
- Growing the business with us and helping shape what the shop becomes
What we're looking for
- Comfortable working across brands: Harley-Davidson, Triumph, BMW, Aprilia, MV Agusta, Ducati, KTM, and whatever else rolls up
- Strong diagnostic instincts, especially on bikes you haven't seen before
- Entrepreneurial. You want to build something you own a piece of, not clock in somewhere
- Reliable and organized. Rentals run on schedule, and customers notice when they don't
- Your own tools, or a clear plan to get there
- Valid driver's license with motorcycle endorsement
- You ride, and you like talking to people who ride
Nice to have
- Factory training or certifications on any of the above brands
- Experience running your own shop, service department, or mobile operation
- Electrical and fuel injection diagnostics
- Comfort with modern rider aids and ECU tools
What we're offering
- An ownership stake in Moto Venice, structured with you as we define the role
- Real say in how this part of the business is built
- Flexible part-time schedule to start, so you can keep current work while we ramp
- A growing fleet to work on from day one
- A path to running the service side of a shop you helped create
How to apply
Email me and tell me what you ride, what you've worked on, and any entrepreneurial experience you have. A resume is fine but not required. If you've run your own service business before, we especially want to hear from you.
