About the job
We're a small residential carpentry company hiring across multiple skill levels — from people with solid framing basics up through stronger framers. Journeyman skill is not required. You'll work on decks, framing, and related residential jobs under the owner. Reliable, safe, and ready to learn finer finish work over time. Higher skill and experience earn higher pay within our range. Strong performers can move up to a Lead Carpenter / Crew Lead role over time.
What you'll do
- Frame walls, floors, decks, and similar rough carpentry
- Run circular saws, miter saws, and other common power tools safely
- Measure, cut, and assemble lumber and materials to print or verbal layout
- Help set posts, joists, beams, and decking
- Keep the job site clean and materials organized
- Follow job-site safety practices and basic tool care
- Some real framing experience (not first day on a job site)
- Comfortable running a saw and doing basic carpentry cuts and layout
- Able to read a tape measure and work to layout marks
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation to Highland / Madison County area sites
- Able to regularly lift 50 lbs and occasionally up to 80 lbs; stand, climb, kneel, and work outdoors a full shift (heavier pieces are team-lifted)
- Willingness to learn and take direction; journeyman skill level is not required
- Your own tools: tool pouch, speed square, a decent framing hammer, and a good tape measure (standard markings no Easy Read tapes)
- Deck or exterior carpentry experience
Schedule & pay
- Full-time field work, weekday focus (hours depend on jobs)
- Pay: $20–$35 per hour based on framing experience and tool skills
- Starting rate is set within that range and discussed before you start
- Stronger performance can move you up in the range after a short trial period (about 30 days)
