Full-Time Groundskeeper (Westchester)
Description
A residential property in Westchester County is seeking a Groundskeeper for a full-time, live-out position. Candidates must reside no more than 45 minutes from ZIP code 10520 and be willing to work a flexible schedule to accommodate seasonal demands and occasional emergencies.
Position Overview:
The Groundskeeper will be responsible for the ongoing maintenance, care, and improvement of the property’s grounds. This role is primarily hands-on but may expand over time - for the right candidate - to include coordination with contractors and oversight of third-party service providers.
The ideal candidate will be someone who can work diligently, provide practical solutions to novel problems, takes pride in their work - and can combine these qualities to keep the property looking great and running efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lawn care, including mowing, trimming, edging, and seasonal upkeep
- Tree and brush management, including chainsaw work and storm cleanup
- Pruning, planting, and general landscape maintenance
- Fence repair and light carpentry projects
- Routine property upkeep and general maintenance tasks as needed
- Monitoring grounds conditions and proactively addressing issues
We encourage the following two types of candidates to apply:
Experienced Groundskeepers - with a strong background in landscape and property maintenance
Junior Groundskeepers - who can demonstrate a strong work ethic, a genuine interest in landscaping, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Safe and competent operation of lawn tractors, string trimmers, chainsaws and similar equipment
- Working knowledge of small engine maintenance and repair
- Basic carpentry skills and safe use of power tools
- Ability to troubleshoot basic plumbing, irrigation and electrical issues
- Ability to identify common plant species, including distinguishing native from invasive plants
- Physical capability to lift up to 75lbs and perform manual outdoor labor in varying weather conditions
- Good written and spoken English
- Adequate knowledge of Google Docs and Sheets for reporting and accounting purposes
- Reliable, self-directed, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexible availability to accommodate seasonal workload changes and occasional emergencies
