Description
**FULL-TIME SHOP MECHANIC – ASPHALT / HEAVY EQUIPMENT / TRUCKS**
Folsom Lake Asphalt is looking for a dependable, experienced **full-time Shop Mechanic** to help maintain our trucks, trailers, paving equipment, and shop.
We need someone who takes ownership of the equipment and doesn't wait until something breaks on a job to discover a problem.
**Responsibilities Include:**
- Preventive maintenance and repairs
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and starting/charging problems
- Maintain paving equipment and construction equipment
- Maintain trucks and trailers
- Inspect and repair trailer lights, wiring, plugs, brakes, tires, bearings, etc.
- Check equipment fluids, batteries, belts, hoses, filters, and service intervals
- Perform pre-job equipment inspections
- Identify problems BEFORE equipment leaves for a job
- Keep maintenance records and communicate needed repairs
- Keep commonly needed parts and supplies organized
- Maintain an organized, clean, functional shop
- Help organize tools, parts, equipment, and inventory
- Coordinate repairs that need to be sent to outside shops
- Help make sure equipment is ready for the next day's work

- Tack equipment
- Paving and construction equipment
- Small engines and miscellaneous support equipment
- Previous mechanic experience required
- Heavy equipment / construction equipment experience preferred
- Diesel experience preferred
- Hydraulic and electrical troubleshooting ability
- Welding/fabrication ability is a plus
- Must have your own basic mechanic hand tools
- Valid driver's license
- Dependable and able to work independently
- Organized and proactive
- Must take pride in keeping equipment safe and operational
