Furniture Upholsterer – Vintage & Mid-Century Modern Furniture

BUKO Furniture is a growing vintage Danish and mid-century modern furniture business in Los Angeles. We are looking for an experienced upholsterer to join our restoration team.

We have an immediate backlog of upholstery projects, including sofas, lounge chairs, and dining chairs, and are looking for someone interested in regular, ongoing work.

Responsibilities

Reupholster vintage sofas, lounge chairs, dining chairs, and other furniture.
Remove old upholstery and prepare furniture for new fabric.
Measure, cut, and sew upholstery fabric.
Replace foam, batting, and other upholstery materials as needed.
Create and recover cushions, including piping and other finishing details.
Maintain the original design and proportions of vintage furniture.
Complete projects independently with consistent, professional workmanship.

Requirements

Previous professional furniture upholstery experience.
Ability to operate industrial sewing machines and upholstery tools.
Experience with complete sofa and chair reupholstery.
Strong attention to detail and quality.
Reliable attendance and ability to meet agreed project deadlines.
Experience with vintage or mid-century modern furniture is a plus.

Schedule and compensation

Starting compensation: $25–$32 per hour, depending on experience and demonstrated skills.
