GARBAGE TRUCK MECHANIC

Mechanic (Kailua Kona)

FULL TIME $25-$50 per hour
Based on Ability and Experience

We are looking for a Mechanic to join our team.

You will be maintaining and repairing a 20+ truck fleet.
These are diesel engine garbage trucks and they have extensive hydraulic systems.
Requires understanding or ability to gain understanding of all mechanical, electrical and hydraulic systems on the trucks.
The ideal candidate will not be afraid to get dirty and will get used to the smell.

Responsibilities:

• Maintenance and Repair of all company vehicles and equipment.
• Perform routine vehicle maintenance and tasks required for preventive care program.
• Rebuild, repair, or replace vehicle components, assemblies and systems including engines, transmissions, suspensions, hydraulic systems, electric systems, etc.
• Use diagnostic tools to test vehicle components.
• Welding and body work as needed.
• Keep maintenance and repair records as required by DOT.
• Order parts, maintain organization of shop, parts and parts room.
• Keep a clean work area.
• Overtime, Weekend & Holiday work may become necessary as a part of this role.

Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a mechanic
• Knowledge of shop equipment
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills
• Deadline and detail-oriented
• Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to switch tasks when the need arises
• CDL class B and mechanical certification desired
