Chain Link Fence & Supply, Inc. has been family owned and operated since 1996. We are a full-service fencing contractor specializing in chain link and ornamental fencing and gate installations or repairs for commercial / industrial and public works applications. We are a member of the American Fence Association, Associated Builders and Contractors, IBEW 1245, Gold Shovel, and ISN. We employ ~34 people.

Chain Link Fence & Supply, Inc. is seeking experienced Automatic Gate Systems Installers who will provide exceptional service to our customers while performing on-site diagnostic, troubleshooting, preventative, and corrective maintenance on a variety of gate and door systems while providing fence installation services as needed.

NOTE: YOU MUST HAVE MOTOR GATE / ACCESS CONTROL REPAIR AND INSTALLATION EXPERIENCE TO BE CONSIDERED.

Responsibilities:

  • Repairs, configures, and troubleshoots motorized gates and access control systems as specified for all assigned projects/work.
  • Inspects job site, interprets blueprints, and ensures site preparation for the work.
  • Welds, wires, and programs customer equipment as required by the scope of work.
  • Ensures device(s) operate as intended and desired by the customer.
  • Documents tasks completed to log against the project plan.
  • Ensures junior technicians or apprentices perform work safely.
  • Partners with the General Contractor and other on-site contractors to ensure flow of tasks are coordinated efficiently and to appropriate specifications.
  • Document that all tasks are completed and logged against the project plan.
  • Manages assigned truck inventory and equipment delivery with support team to order or purchase specialized equipment, missing parts, and other components and tools.
  • Install chain link, fabric, framework, fittings, hardware, and accessories.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned in accordance with the scope of work.
Requirements:
  • Honest, hard-working, enthusiastic and self-motivated.
  • Skilled with standard industry hand tools.
  • Works well alone and with others with little to no supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Works safely at a fast, professional pace.
  • Good basic math skills and ability to make accurate judgments and calculations.
  • Ability to understand and follow written documents such as job files, job scope, job drawings, safety manuals, procedure manuals and equipment instructions.
  • Ability to use hand tools and power tools safely.
  • Ability to measure accurately using a tape measure and other basic measuring equipment.
  • Ability to dig post holes using hand tools and/or powered equipment.
  • Ability to set, plumb, align, and brace fence posts.
  • Ability to install fence fabric, rails, tension wire, fittings, gates, and hardware.
  • Ability to identify common installation problems and notify the Foreman.
- Basic knowledge of:
Chain-link fencing
Ornamental/metal fencing
Gates and gate hardware
Post setting and concrete
Fence layout and grade

  • Able to lift 50lbs+
  • Operate company vehicles to transport employees, tools, equipment, and materials to and from commercial construction jobsites, as assigned.

- Knowledge of the following:
gate motors/sensors
placing in ground loops and connecting them to an operator
conduit bending, conduit wire installation
cutting concrete, concrete placement and finishing, setting posts and ground tracks
entrapment zones; UL 325 compliance
low voltage relay logic
basic electrical theory, electrical code requirements
equipment/installation trim out

Qualifications:

  • Mechanical knowledge: 3-4 years
  • Field service: 2-3 years
  • Door, gate or access control: 2 years
  • Fence installation experience: Entry-level; construction experience helpful; learns tools, layout, digging, post setting and basic installation under supervision
Work Hours and Benefits:
  • Full-time (~40 hours/week, M-F), permanent position in Livermore, California. Travel may be required.
  • Competitive wages - paid weekly, you’ll earn $36-$43/hour D.O.E.
