General Automotive Mechanic
Description
AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car Care in Orlando is seeking an experienced General Automotive Mechanic with strong diagnostic capability, advanced technical skill, and a commitment to high quality workmanship. The ideal candidate brings 5+ years of hands-on automotive repair experience, ASE certifications, and proficiency using modern diagnostic platforms including Autel, Snap-On, and other high-tech scan tools.
This role supports transmission repair, engine diagnostics, and full-spectrum total car care services.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform accurate diagnostics on transmissions, engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, and general mechanical components.
- Use Autel, Snap-On, and other advanced scan tools to identify and troubleshoot complex issues.
- Conduct comprehensive vehicle inspections and document findings clearly.
- Repair or replace components including brakes, suspension, steering, cooling systems, driveline, and related systems.
- Support transmission teardown, evaluation, and reassembly as needed.
- Perform routine maintenance services: oil changes, filters, fluids, belts, hoses, and exhaust.
- Communicate effectively with service advisors and customers regarding recommended repairs.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment consistent with AAMCO standards.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant automotive repair experience.
- ASE certifications (A-series or G1 preferred).
- Strong diagnostic capability using Autel, Snap-On, and similar high-tech scan tools.
- Proven experience diagnosing and repairing transmissions, engines, and general automotive systems.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, and OEM service information.
- Valid driver’s license and eligibility to work in the U.S.
- Prior experience in a transmission-focused or total car care environment.
- Familiarity with AAMCO processes, workflow, or transmission evaluation procedures.
- Additional ASE certifications (A4, A5, A6, A8, L1).
