General Maintenance/ Handyman - Baton Rouge/Gonzales
General Maintenance/Handyman
Description
Store Safe is seeking a dependable and capable GENERAL MAINTENANCE / HANDYMAN to handle repairs, upkeep and practical maintenance work across our Baton Rouge and Gonzales properties.
This is a hands-on position for someone who is good at fixing things, troubleshooting problems and handling a wide variety of odd jobs.
We are not necessarily looking for someone who has previously held a formal facilities-maintenance position. A strong handyman, construction, remodeling, maintenance or general-repair background could be a very good fit.
The most important things are that you are practical, mechanically inclined, dependable, organized and comfortable figuring things out and working independently.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Handle general repairs and odd jobs at both Store Safe locations.
Troubleshoot problems and determine practical solutions.
Perform basic plumbing repairs such as toilets, faucets, drains and leaks.
Handle basic electrical repairs such as lights, switches, outlets and fixtures when appropriate.
Repair and maintain metal building components, sheet metal, trim and exterior panels.
Repair and adjust self-storage roller doors and door hardware.
Cut and remove locks when required.
Repair doors, locks, gates, fencing, hardware and other building components.
Perform drywall repairs, patching, painting and minor carpentry.
Repair sprinkler and irrigation components and assist with drainage or other exterior-property issues.
Pressure wash and complete exterior cleaning projects when needed.
Perform routine HVAC maintenance such as changing filters, cleaning drain lines and identifying obvious problems.
Assist with basic HVAC troubleshooting and recognize when an outside contractor is needed.
Maintain swimming-pool water quality and basic pool equipment.
Perform mosquito-control spraying and other basic pest-prevention tasks.
Monitor and replace rodent bait.
Troubleshoot gate, access-control and other property equipment issues.
Safely perform repairs and maintenance from ladders when required.
Maintain and organize maintenance rooms, tools, supplies and replacement parts.
Keep tools and equipment organized and in good working condition.
Keep track of outstanding maintenance jobs and communicate what has been completed, what still needs attention and any problems encountered.
Help coordinate outside contractors when specialized work is required.
Approximately one day per week may involve maintenance and odd jobs at the owner's residence.
Help with other practical repair and maintenance projects as needed.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for someone who genuinely enjoys fixing things and takes pride in completing jobs properly.
You do not need to know every trade or have experience with every item listed above. We are more interested in finding someone who is mechanically inclined, has good hands-on experience, can troubleshoot problems and is willing to learn.
The right person should be:
Comfortable using hand tools and power tools.
Good at figuring out how things work and how to repair them.
Willing to tackle a wide variety of jobs rather than specializing in only one area.
Organized enough to keep track of jobs, tools and supplies.
Able to communicate clearly about what has been completed and what still needs attention.
Dependable and able to work independently without constant supervision.
Comfortable working outdoors and from ladders when required.
Able to safely perform the physical requirements of maintenance work.
In possession of a valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
Willing to travel between Baton Rouge, Gonzales and other assigned work locations.
This is a full-time, on-site position.
Compensation will be based on experience and demonstrated ability.
