Heavy Diesel Mechanic

Description

Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Diesel Mechanic and Loader / Skid Steer Service Technician, where your expertise will help keep our fleet running safely and efficiently. We are seeking an experienced mechanic to maintain and repair our fleet of skid steers, front-end loaders, dump trucks, garbage trucks, pickup trucks, trailers, and other equipment.

In this hands-on role, you will diagnose, repair, and maintain a wide range of diesel engines, heavy equipment, trucks, and machinery. Your mechanical and diagnostic skills will directly support our day-to-day operations by helping ensure equipment remains reliable, safe, and job-site ready.

Duties

Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical issues

Perform preventative maintenance and inspections
Repair engines, brakes, steering, suspension, and hydraulic systems
Troubleshoot DEF and regen systems, when applicable
Perform road/service calls to diagnose and repair trucks and equipment in the field
Be willing and able to travel locally to job sites or roadside locations when equipment requires service
Weld and fabricate, preferred but not required
Maintain accurate service records
Ensure equipment is safe and job-site ready
Work Environment

This is a hands-on mechanic position performed primarily in a non-air-conditioned service bay. Because some of our larger dump trucks and garbage trucks do not fit fully inside the shop, mechanics must also be willing and able to perform repairs and maintenance outdoors in varying weather conditions.

This position also includes road and field service calls, which may require troubleshooting and completing repairs at job sites or roadside locations. Applicants should be comfortable working independently outside the shop, including in heat and other typical outdoor conditions, while following all required safety procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum 3–5 years of mechanic experience, or equivalent extensive experience working with heavy equipment and automotive/diesel repair
Experience working on skid steers and other heavy equipment
Previous road-call, field-service, or mobile repair experience preferred
Must be willing and comfortable performing road/service calls as needed
Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
Experience with CAT, Bobcat, and/or Komatsu equipment preferred
Own basic mechanic tools
Valid driver’s license
Ability to work independently and make repair decisions in the field
Ability to work Monday–Saturday
