Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment & Diesel Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience working on heavy construction and demolition equipment, 18-wheelers, diesel trucks, trailers, and electrical systems.
This position requires someone who can independently diagnose problems, perform repairs, and troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and computer-controlled systems. The right candidate will be a hands-on mechanic who takes pride in doing quality work and understands the importance of keeping equipment and trucks operational and safe.
Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain heavy construction and demolition equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair 18-wheelers, diesel trucks, trailers, and other fleet vehicles.
  • Perform repairs on diesel engines, transmissions, drivetrains, hydraulic systems, braking systems, suspension systems, and cooling systems.
  • Diagnose and repair 12V/24V electrical systems on heavy equipment and trucks.
  • Troubleshoot wiring, sensors, switches, relays, modules, charging systems, starting systems, lighting, and electrical accessories.
  • Use diagnostic software, scan tools, multimeters, and other diagnostic equipment to identify mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and inspections to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Troubleshoot and repair hydraulic systems, pumps, cylinders, valves, and related components.
  • Inspect equipment and vehicles for safety, reliability, and operational readiness.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical issues involving equipment controls, instrumentation, telematics, cameras, GPS systems, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Perform welding, fabrication, and minor repairs when necessary.
  • Respond to field breakdowns and provide mobile repair services when required.
  • Maintain accurate repair records, work orders, parts information, and equipment service history.
  • Communicate repair needs, parts requirements, and equipment downtime to the Equipment Manager.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Properly use and maintain shop tools, diagnostic equipment, service trucks, and company equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting difficult repairs and provide technical guidance to other mechanics when needed.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of professional experience as a heavy equipment, diesel, fleet, or truck mechanic preferred.
  • Strong experience working on 18-wheelers and diesel-powered trucks.
  • Strong knowledge of heavy construction equipment and diesel engines.
  • Strong electrical troubleshooting and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and hydraulic diagrams.
  • Experience using diagnostic scan tools and electrical testing equipment.
  • Ability to independently diagnose problems and determine the appropriate repair.
  • Strong understanding of preventative maintenance practices.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to work safely in a shop and field environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and respond to equipment breakdowns when necessary.
