Heavy Equipment Operator (Sitework & Final Grade)

Overview:

The Sitework & Final Grade Equipment Operator is responsible for operating and maintaining heavy equipment used in high-end residential landscape construction projects. This role requires expertise in site preparation, rough and finish grading, excavation, trenching, drainage installation, material handling, and final grade work to ensure landscapes are built to plan specifications and ready for installation. The ideal candidate will have a strong eye for detail, the ability to achieve precise grades and elevations, and a commitment to safety, quality, and efficiency on every project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders, to perform landscape-related tasks efficiently and safely.
• Execute tasks related to earthmoving, grading, excavation, trenching, and material handling to prepare sites for landscaping projects.
• Follow project plans and blueprints to ensure accurate and precise execution of tasks, contributing to the overall success of landscape installations.
• Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment to ensure optimal performance, minimize downtime, and prolong equipment life.
• Adhere to all safety guidelines and regulations, promoting a safe work environment for yourself and your team, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
• Work closely with landscape crews and site supervisors to coordinate tasks and ensure smooth project execution.
• Assist in preparing job sites for landscaping, including clearing debris, grading land, and creating appropriate drainage solutions.
• Safely transport and handle materials, ensuring proper loading and unloading to prevent damage and maintain safety.
• Identify and resolve issues that arise during operations, communicating effectively with supervisors and team members to maintain project progress.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a heavy equipment operator, preferably in the construction or landscaping industry
• Proficient in operating various types of heavy equipment, including but not limited to skid steers, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, and graders
• Strong understanding of equipment maintenance and troubleshooting
• Ability to read and interpret project plans, blueprints, and technical drawings
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently or as part of a team
• A valid drivers license and clean 3-year driving record (preferred but not required)

Compensation:
