Position Overview
Reporting to the Shop Foreman, the Heavy Equipment & Truck Mechanic will inspect, diagnose, maintain, and repair construction equipment, heavy trucks, support vehicles, trailers, and small engines.
Belden’s fleet includes:
- Excavators
- Dozers
- Loaders
- Skid steers
- Rollers
- Cranes
- Dump trucks
- One-ton trucks and pickups
- Tractors and trailers
- Small engines and specialty equipment
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, trailers, pickups, and small engines.
- Diagnose mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and drivetrain issues.
- Identify root causes and complete effective repairs.
- Conduct inspections to keep equipment safe, reliable, and jobsite ready.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, braking systems, electrical components, and other mechanical systems.
- Safely operate heavy equipment as needed to position or transport machinery.
- Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records.
- Follow company, state, and federal safety procedures.
- Work with field personnel and fellow mechanics to minimize equipment downtime.
Qualifications
Successful candidates will bring many of the following qualifications:
- Experience maintaining and repairing heavy equipment, trucks, or automotive equipment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability.
- Working knowledge of hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
- Experience using shop tools and diagnostic equipment.
- Ability to safely perform physically demanding work and lift heavy materials.
- Heavy equipment operating experience is preferred but not required.
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screening.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, and teamwork.
