High Voltage Technician - Austin
Description
The High-Voltage Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair and installation of high-voltage electrical systems and components for the company’s in-house power grid. This position assists with developing cost-effective plans for new construction and repairs, administers the department’s inventory, and is responsible for opening, reviewing, and closing repair orders, as well as ensuring their accuracy and timely submission.
- High school diploma or its equivalent
- At least five years of experience working in power distribution or related field
- Comprehensive knowledge of power distribution through substations transformers and transmission lines
- Ability to troubleshoot faults in transformers up to 200 MVA
- Ability to troubleshoot faults in insulators, bushings and other connection points
- Ability to troubleshoot and test current transformers and any other metering devices used in high voltage systems
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced work environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Proficiency with using the Microsoft Office suite – i.e., Word, Excel, Outlook
- Substation maintenance experience
- Transformer maintenance experience
- Valid Class C driver’s license
- Safe driving for the last three years
