Full Job Description
La Strada Pipeline is looking for a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team on a full-time basis. As a member of our team, you will be responsible for operating machinery such as backhoes, loaders, excavators, and other machinery to safely and efficiently install underground utilities, including water, sewer, and storm drains. This role will have a work schedule of 7:00 am to 3:30 pm with some overtime and weekend work required, consistent with business needs.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate backhoes, excavators, and other heavy equipment to excavate and install underground utilities, water, sewer, and storm drain.
  • Excavate trenches cautiously around existing utilities to avoid damage and ensure precision.
  • Excavate and backfill mainline trench and support pipeline install as needed.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, including Foremen and Supervisors, to maintain efficient and safe operations.
  • Perform tasks such as pipe installation, shoring, and trenching, as directed by the Crew Leader or Foreman.
  • Perform physically demanding construction duties and handle equipment with care.
  • Maintain equipment, ensure proper use, and report any issues to supervisors.
  • Be able to identify soil type and trench both sloped trenches as well as vertical.
Qualifications:
  • Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of heavy operating experience with underground utility construction equipment, including backhoes, excavators, skid-steers, and wheel loaders.
  • Must have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience operating pipeline-specific heavy equipment.
  • Strong knowledge of utility construction, installation, and safety practices, especially when working near existing utilities.
  • Experience working around live utilities, pedestrians, and vehicular traffic.
  • Strong awareness of surroundings and attention to detail for a safe worksite.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to walk on uneven terrain, climb on/off equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time up to 2 hours at a time up to 4 hours per day, walk on uneven terrain, climb on/off equipment, lift as well
  • Drive to jobsite following all safety posts and guidelines
