Help homeowners get more from the solar and battery systems they already own.
RevoluSun is seeking a technically strong, hands-on Project Engineer to support our Customer Care division on Oʻahu. You’ll inspect existing residential solar and battery systems, evaluate repair and upgrade options, and develop clear, safe, buildable project plans.
Your work will help determine what needs to change, which equipment is compatible, and what our field teams need to complete each project successfully. The position combines on-site inspections with office-based design, documentation, and project coordination.
What You’ll Do
- Inspect existing systems. Document solar panels, batteries, electrical equipment, roof conditions, and installation constraints.
- Design repairs and upgrades. Develop technical scopes for equipment replacements, system expansions, and modernization projects.
- Evaluate equipment compatibility. Review replacement-module specifications, dimensions, mounting requirements, inverter stringing, voltage and current limits, and proposed array configurations.
- Plan Enphase upgrades. Evaluate equipment, monitoring, and compatibility requirements for legacy systems.
- Assess Tesla Powerwall options. Plan replacements and upgrades, including Powerwall 2-to-Powerwall 3 transitions where supported by the system architecture and current manufacturer requirements.
- Plan backup-power upgrades. Assess partial-home to whole-home backup options, including loads, service equipment, backup controls, and load-management needs.
- Coordinate panel work. Plan solar-panel removal and reinstallation, module replacements, and array upgrades.
- Prepare installation documentation. Develop or coordinate drawings, equipment lists, site records, and clear work instructions.
- Collaborate across teams. Coordinate with electricians, installers, manufacturers, permitting and design partners, and Customer Care staff.
- Support project completion. Help resolve field questions and support commissioning and closeout so installations match the approved scope.
What You’ll Bring
- Practical experience with residential solar PV and battery-storage systems.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical diagrams, equipment specifications, and manufacturer installation requirements.
- Ability to translate site findings into accurate designs, material requirements, and clear installation instructions.
- Familiarity with applicable electrical codes, permitting, and utility-interconnection requirements.
- Strong organization and communication skills, including the ability to explain technical options to homeowners and field teams.
- Comfort working at customer sites and in an office.
- A valid driver’s license and ability to meet company vehicle-use requirements.
- Ability to perform essential site-inspection duties safely, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
An engineering or related technical degree is preferred. Equivalent experience in solar design, installation, commissioning, or service will also be considered.
Experience That Stands Out
- Hands-on electrical experience or an electrician’s license.
- Enphase or Tesla training or certifications.
- Experience troubleshooting and upgrading older or mixed-generation solar systems.
- NABCEP certification.
- CAD or solar-design software experience.
- Familiarity with Hawaiian Electric requirements and Oʻahu permitting processes.
- Experience planning solar-panel removal, reinstallation, and equipment replacement projects.
What This Role Offers
- A mix of fieldwork and office-based technical work.
- A company vehicle for work-related travel.
- Varied repair and upgrade projects that help homeowners get continued value from their solar and battery systems.
