Womenswear Patten Maker and Sewist

Description

Join our entertainment design studio, where we create custom performance costumes and specialty garments for recording artists, touring performers, and music-industry productions. We are seeking an experienced, detail-driven Pattern Maker (who specializes in women’s wear) who can translate creative concepts into precise, production-ready patterns and well-fitting samples or garments. This role involves bringing designs from concept to finished garment, sewing your own patterns, and preparing patterns for other sewistes to construct as needed.

POSITION DETAILS:

  • Starting pay: $32–$35 per hour, based on experience with higher compensation considered for exceptional technical skills
  • Schedule: 4–5 days per week, on-site (this is not a freelance position)
  • Experience: 2–3 years of professional experience in women’s wear pattern making and sample development
  • Work setting: Fast-paced studio environment with hands-on collaboration across design, tailoring, sewing, and embellishment teams
•studio hours are 10am-6pm (the job is deadline driven, overtime is expected as a project might demand occasionally)

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Create and develop patterns for custom womenswear, stage costumes, and performance garments.
  • Draft, drape, and refine patterns to achieve precise fit, shape, and structure.
  • Sew and assemble garments from your own patterns, from initial samples through finished pieces.
  • Prepare patterns for others to sew and assemble.
  • Collaborate with designers and the production team to bring creative concepts to life.
  • Attend fittings and make pattern adjustments, alterations, and construction refinements.
  • Work with a variety of fabrics, including stretch materials, delicate textiles, and specialty performance fabrics.
  • Maintain high standards for fit, finish, construction, and attention to detail.
  • Manage time effectively while working on multiple projects with tight deadlines.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Strong womenswear pattern-making and garment construction skills.
(We are looking for someone with strong pattern-making skills, including draping, drafting, and garment development).
  • Professional sewing experience and the ability to produce finished garments independently.
  • Experience with both flat pattern drafting and draping.
  • Ability to interpret design sketches, references, and fitting notes.
  • Strong understanding of garment fit, proportions, fabric behavior, and construction techniques.
  • Comfortable collaborating with other tailors and preparing patterns for team production.
  • Organized, dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced studio.
  • Experience in custom fashion, entertainment costumes, stage wear, or couture is a plus.
The Studio Environment

You will work on-site in a collaborative creative studio alongside designers, tailors, seamstresses, and specialty artisans. Projects are highly customized and may involve tight timelines, multiple fittings, last-minute revisions, and shifting production priorities.
