HVAC JUNIOR MECHANIC WANTED

Local 638 Shop

We are looking for a Junior HVAC Mechanic who wants to grow in the trade.

This is a hands-on position for someone who is willing to do physical labor. We are not looking to babysit someone. You must be able to take direction, complete assigned work, and become increasingly capable of working on your own. You cannot sit on your phone all day.

MUST HAVE YOUR OWN BASIC TOOLS

Responsibilities
○Assist with HVAC service, maintenance, repairs, and installations
○Work on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration equipment
○Assist with troubleshooting mechanical and electrical HVAC issues
○Perform preventative maintenance and equipment inspections
○Change filters, belts, motors, contactors, thermostats, and other components as needed
○Assist with piping, wiring, brazing, refrigerant work, and equipment installation
○Use hand tools, power tools, meters, gauges, and other HVAC equipment properly
○Keep tools, equipment, work areas, and job sites clean and organized
○Follow instructions, read job information, and communicate with the mechanic/foreman
○Work safely and follow company and job-site safety requirements
○Be willing to work throughout NYC and report directly to job sites when required

○Must be able to meet at NYC job sites on time
○Must have a strong work ethic and professional attitude
○Must take care of company tools, materials, and equipment
○Must have basic knowledge of tools and equipment
○Must follow safety guidelines
○Drug-free workplace — employees must report fit for duty and comply with applicable company/job-site policies

HVAC experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to train someone who has the right attitude, mechanical ability, common sense, and desire to advance in the trade.

If you need someone standing over you all day telling you what to do, this is not the position for you. If you want to learn, work hard, take responsibility, and grow into a better HVAC mechanic, we want to hear from you.

Will put right candidate through Union School.

Salary based on experience, knowledge, and work ethic.
