HVAC LEAD INSTALLER

COOL HAND LUKE HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING is based in El Cajon and Pine Valley and serves residential and commercial customers throughout San Diego County. As HVAC Lead Installer, you will take ownership of installations, coordinate assigned installers and helpers, verify workmanship and system performance, and keep customers and company leadership informed from job start through closeout.

What You Will Own

• Lead residential and commercial HVAC installations, replacements, and change-outs from job preparation through final testing.
• Lay out, install, and connect equipment, ductwork, refrigerant piping, condensate components, and permitted electrical/control connections within your qualifications.
• Review plans, schematics, manufacturer instructions, job scopes, and material needs; flag conflicts before they delay the project.
• Perform startup, commissioning, and troubleshooting while following applicable codes, safety rules, manufacturer specifications, and company procedures.
• Set the pace and quality standard for the assigned crew while training installers and helpers.
• Protect customer property, keep the jobsite orderly, and communicate professionally with customers, coworkers, suppliers, and company leadership.
• Track tools and materials and complete required photos, job notes, progress updates, and closeout documentation accurately and on time.

You Are a Strong Fit If You Have

• At least 3 years of hands-on HVAC installation experience; prior lead, crew-coordination, or supervisory experience is strongly preferred.
• A valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable under the Company's insurance requirements.
• Strong HVAC, refrigeration, airflow, duct, piping, and electrical-control knowledge, plus the ability to apply plans and manufacturer instructions.
• Sound troubleshooting judgment, attention to detail, clear leadership and customer-service skills, dependable attendance, and a team-first approach.

What to Expect in the Field

• Field-based work and travel throughout San Diego County. The role is intended to be full-time, but schedules and hours vary and are not guaranteed; required overtime is paid under California law.
• All work time must be recorded, including loading, vehicle checks, communications, travel, parts runs, photos, and documentation. Required mobile work is paid, necessary personal-phone use is reimbursed under company policy, and phone use while driving is prohibited.
• Essential functions may include lifting equipment and materials; climbing ladders; bending, kneeling, reaching, and standing; and working in attics, crawl spaces, rooftops, confined areas, and varied temperatures, with or without reasonable accommodation.
