HVAC SERVICE TECHNICIAN (ARVADA)

Compensation: $39-$44 hourly (based on skill), plus commission and great benefits.

Comfy Cave Heating and Air is a small residential and light commercial HVAC company located in Arvada Colorado, serving primarily the west Denver metro area.

This is a help wanted ad, but it's hard to not make this sound like a tribute as well. It somewhat is.
Our senior technician, Carl, is retiring. He's worked for us for 5 years, and it's been a blessing having him with us.
He starts his day at 7 am before anyone else gets to the shop; you can find him either tidying up the shop, working on estimates, or feeding about a dozen squirrels that he's cultivated.
When he came in board, he didn't oversell himself. He didn't immediately ask for a high wage. He just said he wanted a good environment and to work with people he liked.
After he started, one day he started mapping out the electrical diagram on an RTU to find a short. I was there to meet him on the job. The next day Carl jumped in and started tearing apart a boiler. I was shocked that he knew how to do these things, because I've hired a lot of people that just didn't possess the skills that they claimed to have. His response was just a strange look and to say that of course he knew how to do these things.
Carl has fixed automotive things on the fleet, never missed a day of work, never caused any company drama.
He always has a story about back when he worked in Wichita, and often an inappropriate joke or video to watch.
I've enjoyed every minute with Carl these 5 years, and it's impossible to think someone can take his place. Sadly, someone has to. These are some huge shoes to fill.
We are taking resumes, and look forward to speaking with applicants that want a great little shop to work for and maybe retire at. Our primary focus is that we are a company dedicated to helping people, and we endeavor to always provide good value to our customers. We have no interest in being the cheapest, but to be professional and darn good at what we do. Every member of this team is valued.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Must have good customer service skills

- Comfy Cave installs a wide range of equipment including furnaces, ductless mini-splits, standard air conditioning systems, heat pumps, boilers, bath fans, minimal duct work, etc.

-Able to work in Colorado's weather environments.

-Able and willing to do ladder work, some attics and crawl spaces.
