HVAC Service Technician

Description

Therma Tech is hiring an experienced HVAC Service Technician to diagnose, repair and maintain residential heating and cooling systems across San Jose and the South Bay. You'll run your own service calls from a stocked company van, fix the problem right the first time, and leave every homeowner knowing exactly what was done and why.

This role suits a tech who takes pride in clean work, clear communication and honest recommendations. When a system is past saving, you'll walk the customer through replacement options, including current rebates on new installs.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Diagnose and repair furnaces, central AC, heat pumps, ductless mini-splits and air handlers, including electrical, airflow and refrigerant issues
  • Perform seasonal maintenance and tune-ups on residential systems and maintenance-plan members
  • Handle no-heat and no-cool calls, including rotating after-hours and weekend on-call
  • Explain findings to homeowners in plain language and present repair or replacement options with upfront pricing
  • Recommend replacement only where it genuinely makes sense, including rebate-eligible installs
  • Document every job in ServiceTitan (notes, photos, readings, estimates, invoices), closed out same day
  • Collect payment on site and sign up interested customers for maintenance plans
  • Keep your van clean and stocked, and treat every home with shoe covers, drop cloths and a clean work area
  • Follow EPA refrigerant handling rules, local code and company safety practices
WHAT YOU NEED
  • 3+ years of residential HVAC service experience in a lead or solo role
  • EPA Section 608 certification (Universal preferred)
  • Strong troubleshooting on gas furnaces, split AC systems and heat pumps, including wiring diagrams and control boards
  • Valid California driver's license and clean driving record
  • Comfortable in attics, crawlspaces and on rooftops; able to lift 50+ lbs
  • Clear, respectful communication with homeowners
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen
NICE TO HAVE
  • Inverter heat pump and ductless mini-split experience (Mitsubishi, Daikin, Fujitsu or similar)
  • NATE certification
  • ServiceTitan or similar field service app experience
  • Bilingual English/Spanish or English/Vietnamese
SCHEDULE AND BENEFITS
  • Full-time, Monday – Friday, with rotating after-hours and weekend on-call
  • Company-provided specialty tools and gauges
  • Paid time off and paid holidays
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance
  • Paid training, certification support and a path to lead tech or comfort advisor
