🪴 Indoor Plant Care Technician, Part-Time, $25-$30/hr After Training

PROFESSIONAL, HANDS-ON PLANT CARE EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED.

We take care of plants in Manhattan offices, and we're looking for one more technician to join our small team.

Your experience can come from office plant maintenance, hotels, commercial interiors, greenhouses, plant shops, nurseries, or similar work. Caring for your own houseplants alone isn't enough.

This is a part-time, independent job for someone who likes moving around the city, working on their own, and taking responsibility for their route.

• $20/hour during your first month of training

WHAT YOUR DAY LOOKS LIKE

You'll usually visit about 5-7 offices a day on a set Manhattan route.

You work mostly on your own, traveling by subway and on foot. You start your first stop at 9:00 am, and most days you finish when your route is complete.

You'll see the same clients every two weeks, so you'll get to know the offices, the people, and most importantly, the plants.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Water, prune, clean, rotate, and care for indoor plants at client offices.
• Watch for pests, watering problems, poor light, damaged plants, and anything else that needs attention.

• After each visit, check out in our app, leave a short report, and photograph anything that doesn't look right.
• Keep the area around the plants clean. No water rings, soil on the floor, or mess left behind.

• Lift up to 50 lbs, carry up to 30 lbs, and occasionally use a ladder to reach tall plants or living walls.
• Some days, help prepare plants and planters for installations at our studio.

• Interact professionally with office managers and other client employees and answer basic plant questions.

WHAT MATTERS TO US

Plant knowledge gets you in the door. Reliability and good judgment are what make someone successful here.

If your first stop is at 9:00, we expect you there at 9:00. If you're sick or delayed, we need to hear it from you before the client does.

We expect you to check in and out as you go, complete your reports after each visit, read our messages the same day, and let us know when there's a problem.

You'll also handle normal building access issues yourself, including front desks, badges, security, and locked rooms. If something needs our help, tell us and we'll take care of it.

Once you're trained, we won't be following you around. We expect you to manage your route and tell us when something isn't right.

WHAT YOU NEED

• Professional, hands-on plant care experience.
• Knowledge of common indoor tropical plants, including basic watering, light requirements, pruning, and pest identification.

• Ability to write a few clear sentences in English. They don't have to be fancy. They need to make sense to someone who wasn't in the room.
• Comfort using a phone app throughout the day for your schedule, check-ins, reports, photos, and communication with us.

• Comfort traveling around Manhattan alone by subway and on foot in all kinds of weather.

• Authorization to work in the United States.

TRAINING AND GROWTH

Your first month is paid training at $20/hour.

After training, the regular rate for this position is $25-$30/hour, depending on experience and how quickly you can take responsibility for your own route.

Experienced technicians can later earn up to $35/hour based on quality of work, reliability, client feedback, and additional responsibility.

The first three months are an introductory period for both of us. At the end of that period, we'll sit down and talk about what's working and what isn't.

As we grow, there are also opportunities to work on plant installations, design projects, and eventually help lead other technicians.
