Industrial Laser Cleaning Technician (Surface Restoration Specialist)

The Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Laser Cleaning Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for operating high-powered laser systems to remove rust, paint, grease, and other contaminants from various substrates. The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of surface chemistry and a passion for precision restoration work.

Key Responsibilities

-Laser Operation: Setup and operate handheld and automated fiber laser cleaning systems (high and low power).
-Surface Analysis: Evaluate substrates (metal, stone, wood, etc.) and types of contamination to determine optimal laser parameters (frequency, power, pulse width, and speed).
-Safety Compliance: Strict adherence to laser safety protocols, including the setup of controlled "Laser Zones," use of PPE (safety glasses), and ensuring the safety of bystanders.
-Project Execution: Perform restoration tasks on-site or in-shop for automotive parts, industrial machinery, and historical structures.
-Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of laser lenses, cooling systems, and fiber cables to ensure peak performance.
-Documentation: Maintain logs of settings used for specific materials and provide project reports to management.

Qualifications & Requirements

-Laser Experience: Minimum 1–2 years of hands-on experience with Laser Cleaning equipment is highly preferred.
-Blasting Background: Strong experience in Sandblasting, vapor honing, or media blasting is a significant plus. We value candidates who understand traditional surface prep and are ready to transition to laser technology.
-Industry Knowledge: Experience in the Blasting industry (Industrial, Marine, or Automotive) is required.
-Technical Aptitude: Ability to troubleshoot equipment and understand the physics of light/material interaction.
-Attention to Detail: A "perfectionist" mindset when it comes to surface finishes and protecting delicate base materials.
-Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work in confined spaces or at heights, and stand for extended periods.
-Reliability: Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel to various job sites as needed. Own truck is a huge plus.
