About the Position
Gilead Management is hiring a dependable, hands-on Janitor A to work at multiple residential properties on Chicago’s South Side.
This is a combination of maintenance, unit turn, cleaning, and property-upkeep position. The right candidate must be comfortable doing both maintenance work and janitorial duties.
A reliable personal vehicle is required because this position travels between multiple properties during the workday.
What You’ll Do
- Complete maintenance work orders.
- Help turn vacant apartments and prepare them for new residents.
- Clean vacant units, common areas, offices, and assigned property areas.
- Perform minor plumbing repairs, including toilets, faucets, drains, and supply lines.
- Patch drywall and perform minor wall repairs.
- Paint and complete touch-up work.
- Repair or replace doors, locks, screens, hardware, and fixtures.
- Perform basic appliance troubleshooting.
- Complete basic and preventative maintenance tasks.
- Remove trash, debris, and bulk items.
- Maintain sidewalks, grounds, entrances, and curb appeal.
- Assist with snow and ice removal.
- Report leaks, water damage, mold or moisture concerns, safety hazards, vandalism, and other serious property issues.
- Assist with unit and property inspections.
- Keep tools, equipment, and supplies organized.
- Communicate completed work and outstanding issues to management.
- Provide professional service when working around residents.
- Travel between assigned properties throughout the workday.
- At least 2 years of apartment, residential, multifamily, facilities, or similar maintenance experience preferred.
- Unit turn experience strongly preferred.
- Basic knowledge of plumbing, drywall, painting, doors, locks, fixtures, appliances, and general repairs.
- Willingness to perform both maintenance and cleaning duties.
- Ability to work independently.
- Dependable attendance and punctuality.
- Good communication and resident-service skills.
- Valid driver’s license required.
- Reliable personal vehicle required.
- Current automobile insurance required.
- Must be able to travel between multiple properties during the workday.
This position requires regular standing, walking, bending, reaching, climbing stairs, lifting and carrying materials, and performing hands-on maintenance and cleaning work.
