Description

We are a small business creating one-of-a-kind jewelry, working primarily with unique colored gemstones and natural crystals. Our stones often have unusual shapes and characteristics, offering both beautiful possibilities and interesting fabrication challenges.

We offer a supportive, respectful environment and provide the tools and resources you need to do your work well.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Jewelry Fabricator / Goldsmith to create complete, hand-fabricated pieces in silver and gold, from preparing metal and forming components through stone setting and final polishing.

We fabricate all of our jewelry. We do no casting.

This role offers the opportunity to make distinctive pieces, solve design and construction challenges, and work with unconventional materials. You will take responsibility for daily jewelry department operations and collaborate with staff to organize work and coordinate priorities.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Hand-fabricate rings, pendants, and other one-of-a-kind jewelry in silver and gold.
  • Prepare metal from grain, mill sheet, and draw wire.
  • Form and assemble components using hand tools and torch soldering.
  • Develop and execute secure settings that complement each stone’s individual shape and character.
  • Handle and set delicate colored gemstones and natural crystals with care.
  • Finish and polish each piece to completion.
  • Size completed rings and perform some jewelry repairs.
  • Organize daily bench work and coordinate priorities with staff.
  • Maintain a safe, orderly workspace and follow all safety procedures.
Your portfolio should demonstrate complete hand-fabricated pieces and your stone-setting abilities. For each example, briefly describe which parts of the work you personally completed.
